Why Having Your Own Dive Gear Matters

Based on my first fun dive experience, I now know EXACTLY what I need to better equip myself as a diver. With so many brands and gear options out there, it can be overwhelming to figure out what’s worth investing in. Thankfully, learning from experienced divers has helped me avoid some of the more problematic brands.

In this blog, I’m sharing a list of basic gear that I’ve chosen to start with. These essentials are based on research and recommendations, and I’ll include two options for each item to give you flexibility. 1. Diving Computer: Your Underwater Lifeline

For those who may not be familiar, a diving computer is an indispensable tool for divers. It records vital information like dive time, depth, decompression time, ascent rate, and ambient temperature. Not only is it essential for safety, but having your own diving computer allows you to become familiar with its display and functions, making your dives smoother and more enjoyable.

2. Wetsuit: Comfort and Hygiene Underwater

If you’ve followed my previous blogs, you’ll know I avoid rentals for personal items like wetsuits. A wetsuit fits closely against your skin and body, so owning your own is not only more hygienic but also ensures better comfort and fit.
