Keeping the Diving Spirit Alive During Winter
Hi everyone,
It’s been a while since my last post. Life’s been a bit busy with D’riftr, but I’m back! Right now, I’m in the UK, stuck in the middle of a cold winter. If you’re like me and love the summer sun and the ocean, you’ll know how much harder the cold can feel. I honestly can’t wait for my next dive—or even just a chance to jump into the ocean again.
Staying Motivated During Off-Season
What do you do to keep the excitement for diving alive when you’re not out in the water? For me, it’s all about looking back at dive photos with my girlfriend or scrolling through Instagram Reels. I also keep busy with projects that focus on diving, marine life, and conservation. Being surrounded by ocean-related stuff every day keeps me inspired and makes me look forward to the next adventure even more.
Speaking of adventures, I’m already planning my next dive trip: the Maldives! I’ve never been there before, but I’ve heard so many great things about it—the coral reefs, the marine life, and their conservation efforts. I want to experience it all firsthand. Honestly, I didn’t know much about ocean conservation before I started diving, but learning about it now has been so eye-opening. I’m excited to see how we can all do more to protect the ocean while enjoying it responsibly.
Finding Inspiration in Marine Life
When I’m not diving, I love watching videos of marine animals. Some of them are so smart, and others are just plain adorable. I also see videos about plastic pollution, which can be pretty upsetting but also motivates me to want to do better for our planet.
One of my favorite memories is from a dive in Moalboal, swimming alongside a whale shark. It was my first time seeing one up close, and it was both exciting and a little intimidating. They’re so big, and I just wanted to stay out of their way! But it’s those moments—being surrounded by fish or seeing a huge animal in its natural habitat—that stay with you and remind you how special diving is.

Prepping for the Next Dive
How do you get ready for your next dive? For me, I try to stay active by working out 2-3 times a week. Diving can be a workout, so I want to be prepared!
What about you? Do you do anything special to get ready? I’d love to hear what works for you—whether it’s staying fit, learning about marine life, or something else entirely.
Sometimes I wonder if it’s possible to dive all year. Maybe go to warmer places in winter and cooler ones in summer? It sounds like a dream, but if any of you have done it, let me know how it works!
For now, I’ll keep dreaming about sitting by the pool at a dive shop in the Maldives. Picture this: a warm day, a cold drink, and the sun on your face after a full day of diving. Sounds perfect, doesn’t it?

Diving Projects to Keep Me Busy
While I wait for my next trip, I’m keeping myself busy with some fun projects. I’ve created a series of Word Search books with diving and marine life themes. They’re a great way to learn more about the ocean while keeping your brain active. My next project is a gratitude journal for divers, to help us reflect on our experiences and stay mindful.
If you want to check out my Word Search books, you can find the links . And if you have any feedback, ideas, or advice, I’d love to hear from you.
Thanks for reading, and let’s all keep dreaming about the ocean until we’re back underwater!
